British-born, Taiwan-based. I’ve spent over two decades working at the intersection of communications, technology, and strategy in Asia, and an equal amount of time thinking about food, language, and why well-designed things make life better.
Background
I grew up in the UK, lived in China, then completed a Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction with Ergonomics at UCL before Taiwan pulled me in permanently. That was over 25 years ago. It hasn’t disappointed.
The early years were spent in R&D — nearly a decade at PaceBlade Technology, working on tablet computing before tablets were a consumer product. From there the path moved into strategy, communications, and business development: PR agency work at BMA Global Services, independent consulting across the Taiwan market, and a more recent stint as Strategy Director at GatherStars, an AI-focused communications start-up.
“Language isn’t just how we communicate — it’s how we taste, remember, argue, and make sense of a messy world.”
The Work
I advise international organisations on PR strategy, communications, and market positioning across Taiwan and Asia. The work is strategy-led and relationship-driven, built on two decades of understanding how things actually get done in this part of the world.
The Writing
Design. Food. Drinks. Language. Four subjects with more in common than they first appear. The kind of writing that starts with a simple question and ends up somewhere unexpected.
